Why a Health Coach?
If you told me 10 years ago that I would be a Qualified Nutritionist, Certified Health Coach and business owner, I wouldn’t have believed you and probably would have laughed. However it’s true!!
10 years ago I was working crazy hours as a qualified chef. Weekends, early mornings, late nights, split shifts, limited holidays… that was my normal. I was consuming a diet of refined carbohydrates, sugar and coffee (and lots of it) just to get by. At the time I didn’t think anything of it, but looking back I now know that this wasn’t a sustainable lifestyle. I was anxious, exhausted, stressed, suffered with digestive disorders, felt depressed, had trouble sleeping, didn’t feel healthy, and overall just not myself. So what happened?
It all turned around after another early morning start, catering at a function, when an accident happened and I ended up in hospital. I was off work for a short time, and this gave me a chance to sit back and reassess what I truly wanted… to feel healthy, work normal hours and find an occupation that I was truly passionate about. Two weeks later I resigned and got myself an office job! OK so it wasn’t my dream job, and polar opposites from being a chef. But what it did give me was normal working hours and a chance to think about what I really wanted to do with my life….yes a little late, but I eventually got there!
I realised what I was truly interested in which was nutrition, so I enrolled to study to become a Nutritionist and after my first lecture I was hooked. It took me 5 years to complete my course, trying to fit lectures around my full time job, but I eventually qualified. Not only did I get my degree, but I also got my health back and started to feel like “my old self “again.
Why a Health Coach?
I then started my own business as a Nutritionist, consulting with clients on what to eat, prescribing the appropriate supplements and creating meal plans and recipes.
But I felt there was something missing…
I could give my clients all the information, knowledge and help they needed, but that was only part of the solution. I discovered that although Nutrition was important, it was Habit Change which created the big changes.
That’s why I chose to become a Certified Health Coach, as I knew this was the missing link. Once I combined Nutrition with Health Coaching, my clients’ results sky rocketed. They had the tools to help them achieve their goals and felt in control, more confident, and healthier then they had felt for a very long time. They also had someone to guide them on their journey with support when they needed it, and accountability to keep them on track.
I'm also on a constant journey to become the Best Version of Myself. What I can say now is that over the past 10 years I feel like my old self again, I am the healthiest I have ever been and content with my life and the direction it is taking.
I have found my truth, I am grateful for everything I have and the experiences life has given and thrown at me. I hope I can help you find the Best Version of Yourself. It’s not always easy, but the end result is worth it!!
